Jeremy Reinhold, Principal Accompanist

Jeremy Reinhold has accompanied ballet classes since 2001. He has previously worked for K-Ballet (Japan), San Francisco Ballet, U.C. Berkeley, Evergreen City Ballet (Seattle), and others. He has played classes at Harvard University, Cornish College of the Arts, and The Joffrey Ballet School Summer Intensive. He composes music regularly and loves collaborating with artists in other media, including film, theatre, and, of course, dance. His original music has been performed across the country, and his commercial music has been used by Saab and L’Occitane, among others. Jeremy holds a Bachelor’s degree from Berklee College of Music and a Master of Arts degree from San Francisco State University, both in music composition. He also studied in Greece at the Phillipos Nakas Conservatory. Jeremy is passionate about music education and has taught for more than a decade, including four years at the Seattle Symphony in the education department. Currently, he teaches piano, composition, and film scoring from his home studio in Portland.

J-P Douglas

J-P Douglas works as a multi-instrumentalist performer, educator and music director. He has previously lived and performed in the Twin Cities of Minnesota and Santa Barbara, CA. He is an active musician for dance and currently plays for dance companies and schools around Portland. In the past, he has directed music for many youth theater productions and performed at many fancy hotels. He has yet to be commissioned as a composer, though he regularly writes pieces for the people he cares about. You can regularly find him jamming with street buskers and enticing the public with music of every genre, origin and era at the public pianos around Portland. Living with the understanding that “the more instruments you can play, the more gigs you can get,” he is constantly learning and practicing new instruments and reminds you that it is never too late to learn a new skill or instrument.

Richard Hugunine

Richard Hugunine began his professional music career in 1972 as ballet pianist for The Roberson School of Ballet in central New York. From 1973 to 1987 he provided improvisatory piano music for ballet classes as Assistant Music Director at the National Academy of Dance in Champaign, Illinois, as class pianist and personal pianist for Patricia Wilde at American Ballet Theatre, as Music Director and Composer in Residence at Ballet Binghamton, as lead class pianist at the National School of Ballet in Washington, D.C., and as on-call ballet pianist at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.

Richard returned to Binghamton University in 2012 to complete his BA in composition and continued on to complete his Master of Music (Composition/Performance) degree at Binghamton University under the direction of Daniel Thomas Davis. His compositions include scores for ballet, choral arrangements, works for instrumental ensembles, solo instruments and many songs. Richard joins us from New York, as a faculty pianist at The Portland Ballet.

Corin Parker

Born in Walla Walla, Wa. to a very musical family, Corin was immersed in music with the Walla Walla symphony where her mom played the violin and her grandfather helped repair the instruments. She began playing the piano at the age of 6 under Beulah Long at the Whitman College School of Music. She continued to take piano lessons from Debra Richter at Walla Walla College.  Her first performance with a symphony was under the baton of Yaacov Bergman playing Mozart’s variations to “Ah vous dirai-je Maman” when she was 12 years old. She received her BA with an emphasis in Piano Performance from Whitman College and her MAT in Education from University or Portland. Her solo performances have included Shostakovich’s Piano Concerto #2, Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, all of J.S. Bach Two Piano/Four Hand works, Brahms four hand Hungarian Dances, Lutoslowski’s Two Piano Theme and Variation of Paganini, Beethoven’s first Piano Concerto, and Poulenc’s Concerto for Two Pianos and Orchestra. 

After college she began teaching students music in the classroom, and was a music educator in public schools for 23 years.  In 2017 she received the OMEA General Music Teacher of the year.  After moving to the Portland area, she gave education a break, and began playing for ballet companies.  She is currently a collaborative pianist at Oregon Ballet Theatre, Portland Ballet Theatre, Body Vox, NW Dance Project, and is currently a collaborative pianist at Pacific University.

Karen Lam

A native of Hong Kong, Karen Lam received both Master’s of Music degrees in Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy from the University of Oregon. She also holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. Her teachers include Dean Kramer, Claire Wachter, Betty Oberacker and Peter Gach. Both a soloist and a collaborative pianist, Ms. Lam has appeared in the International Workshops in Graz, Austria, Oregon Mozart Players Chamber Music Series, Palomar College Concert Series, and with the DeRosa Chamber Players. She has performed in Masterclasses given by Stephen Hough, Fernando Laires, Martin Katz and Rosalyn Tureck. Ms. Lam has been an active member of the Oregon Music Teachers Association where her students have won numerous honors and awards in the Pacific Northwest. Currently, she maintains a private teaching studio and serves as ballet pianist at Oregon Ballet Theater, The Portland Ballet, Pacific University and Northwest Dance Project.

Jenny Peterson

Jenny Peterson, a Pacific Northwest native, grew up studying piano and dance. After a hiatus from music where she worked in IT and bike toured through South America, she returned to the piano in 2017. She has taught and performed at Centrum’s Acoustic Blues Festival in Port Townsend, Washington and has played with various jazz and soul ensembles throughout Vermont and Washington. Jenny holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from St. Olaf College where she frequently collaborated with other musicians and artists, including dancers. Currently, she works as an accompanist for Portland State University, Hillsboro School District, BodyVox, and The Portland Ballet. Her inspirations for ballet classes come from her background in jazz, blues, and classical studies, as well as her experience dancing.

Tiffany Sandford

Tiffany Sanford is an avid composer and pianist. Over the years, her playing has earned her many awards and performance opportunities including soloing with the Mid-Columbia Sinfonietta and the Mt. Hood Pops Orchestra. As an accompanist, she has worked for Cathedral Choirs, Bella Canto Choir, Reedwood Friends Church, Portland Community College, Marylhurst University’s Summer Choir Camp, the Sultanov Russian Ballet Academy, and NW Dance Project’s summer intensive. Currently, she enjoys accompanying for The Portland Ballet and Oregon Ballet Theatre.

Her original composition awards include 1st Place National for MTNA’s High School Student Composition Competition in 1999 and Semifinalist in the international 2008 Sorel Medallion Choral Composition Contest. Her work has been featured on the All Classical 89.9 radio station and performed by the contemporary ensemble group fEARnoMUSIC. Between 2008-2010, she wrote the score, book and lyrics to three musicals which were produced by Trueheart Productions and premiered at Mt. Hood Community College. Currently, she is composing the orchestral score to the full-length ballet, Madman, which was commissioned and will be premiered by Ballet 5:8 in the fall of 2017 in Chicago.

Tiffany has a Masters Certificate in Arranging and Orchestration from Berklee College of Music and is pursuing a double major in Music Composition for Film, TV, and Games and Songwriting from Berklee College of Music.
