What can dancers expect from hip hop? We’re glad you asked! Hip Hop is a perfect complement to a ballet education. It flexes all of the muscles (metaphorically) that would be less featured in a ballet class. It is a street art form that has a rich lineage of defined movements and a recognizable style, while leaving plenty of room for individualism and self-expression. This class will teach students about the history of hip hop focusing on elements from house, pop & lock, breaking and hyphy. There will also be numerous opportunities for students to create their own ideas of what it means to express themselves through dance.
