Gretta Murray-Marchek, born in Invercargill, New Zealand, began her training in the Royal Academy of Dance method, later moving on to complete her studies at Pacific Northwest Ballet School where she enjoyed performing with the company in numerous productions. Gretta danced professionally with Oregon Ballet Theatre, Burklyn Ballet Theatre and Louisville Ballet. She danced numerous roles in the classical repertoire including Odette in Swan Lake, Aurora and the Lilac Fairy in The Sleeping Beauty, and the Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker. Her teaching career began at the National Ballet School in New Zealand and continued in the US at Burklyn Ballet Theatre. She has also served on the faculty of The Dance Academy, Arizona Ballet School, Arts and Communication Magnet Academy and June Taylor’s School of Dance. She also enjoys choreographing and has won numerous awards for her work. Gretta joined the faculty of TPB in the summer of 2016, taking over instruction of Level 1 after the retirement of her long time friend and mentor, Patti Jones.
