Lauren Lane hails from Portland, OR and was a founding student at The Portland Ballet. In 2006, she joined Miami City Ballet School’s Advanced Division where she trained with Edward Villella and Carter Alexander. Two years later, Ms. Lane accepted a company position with St. Louis Ballet under Gen Horiuchi. During her 12 years with St. Louis Ballet, Ms. Lane performed many principal roles in classical ballets including Cinderella (Cinderella), Odette (Swan Lake), Mythra (Giselle), Sugar Plum Fairy and Dew Drop (Nutcracker), Queen of the Dryads (Don Quixote), and Lilac Fairy (Sleeping Beauty). She also danced principal roles in iconic Balanchine ballets including Concerto Barocco (1st Violin), Rubies (Tall Girl), Who Cares? (Jumping Girl), Western Symphony (1st movement principal), and Valse Fantaisie. Other notable roles of her career include Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs (All the Way) and Christopher Wheeldon’s The American (pas de deux). Ms. Lane originated roles with choreographers such as: Tom Gold, Emery LeCrone, Christopher d’Amboise, Francis Patrelli and Gen Horiuchi.
Ms. Lane was an original member of the Dancers and Dogs project and was featured in People Magazine in 2019 for Dancers and Dogs’ holiday Muttcracker campaign. While dancing professionally with St. Louis Ballet, Ms. Lane obtained her Associate’s Degree in Education. In 2020, Ms. Lane moved back to Portland and returned to TPB as Associate Artistic Director. She feels at home at TPB and loves sharing her knowledge, performing experience, and passion for ballet with the next generation of dancers. She currently resides in SE Portland with her husband and daughter.
